WHAT FOLKS ARE SAYING ABOUT RYAN...

“Ryan is just... amazing”

- Ray LaMontagne

Ryan Freeland is a brilliant engineer because he is a musician first. He approaches a project with few preconceived ideals, but rather responds in service to a song the way you hope any musician in the room will. I always begin from a point of performance when working -many people in the same room, much bleed with which to contend- and Ryan has never allowed me to feel I was sacrificing any control because of it. He is an endlessly creative problem solver, and there is soul in his every captured sound. He allows me the freedom to be fearless, which is the greatest gift any collaborator can offer.

-- Joe Henry

Whether working on the fly during tracking sessions or providing his distinctive point of view during a mixdown, Ryan's skills have been indispensable to me as a producer and arranger. During the recording of Aimee Mann's last two albums,  @#%&*! Smilers  and  One More Drifter In The Snow , Ryan's attention to detail and his respect for a performance was always a given. His ability to balance the sometimes comfort-driven needs of an artist, producer and musicians while simultaneously keeping the quest for a fresh sonic environment alive was equally inspiring.

I value that restless quality in an artist above all others, that rare ability to be comfortable with a seeming paradox and be brave enough to reach for the new, untested solution. It's where the fun part of recording begins and Ryan lives there. Always a pleasure.

-- Paul Bryan, producer Grant-Lee Phillips, Tanita Tikaram, Aimee Mann

Ryan Freeland  has recorded and mixed my last 2 albums and my hope is to have him work on many more.He always gets it right sonically and the young man is a pleasure to work with.

-- Loudon Wainwright III

I was delighted to work with Ryan Freeland, not just because his sounds are big, crisp and warm but because his presence in the studio is so positive and his instincts are always bang on.

Oh and he's really fast too !

Ryan Freeland is a force to be reckoned with. As a musician he has an amazing ear. As a Producer/Engineer he is technically advanced while still retaining what a lot of people have lost in the studio and that is "What is best for the song". I learned so much from him & can not wait to work on another project with him. In a word "Genius".

-- Michael Lockwood (producer: Aimee Mann / Lisa Marie Presley)
